Kara Beasley MS, RD, LD/N
Kara Beasley is a Registered Dietitian at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa. Kara holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics as well as a Masters of Science degree in Nutrition from Florida State University. She is state licensed and an active member of the American Dietetic Association.

At Moffitt since 2009, Kara works in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings and specializes in Genitourinary and Hematology Oncology Nutrition. She is also involved in teaching R.E.N.E.W. (Recovery with Exercise, Nutrition, Education and Weight Management) R.E.N.E.W. is a program designed to help cancer survivors learn and implement healthy eating habits following treatment. She has also provided nutrition education to American Cancer Society's Man to Man community support group, designed for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer to be educated, supported and able to share in their cancer experience.

Prior to working at Moffitt, Kara worked with individuals who struggle with eating disorders, mental illness and rehabilitation following surgery. She is passionate in the areas of nutrition education, nutrition counseling and behavior change.

Kara enjoys the nutrition field related to her love of food. In the community, Kara has offered her expertise to Publix Apron's Cooking School by providing healthy facts while demonstrating healthy cooking techniques during scheduled cooking classes. She is a Florida native and enjoys spending time outside, reading books and working out. She also enjoys cooking and trying new and unusual restaurants.

Madelyn E. Butler, MD
Madelyn Butler was born in Cuba and came to the United States with her family at an early age. She spent her childhood in Georgia, and then moved to Florida, where she completed high school. She attended the University of Florida and received both her undergraduate and medical degree. She later completed her residency at the University of South Florida.

Since the beginning of her practice in 1994, Madelyn’s contributions to the field have been recognized by both professional organizations and her peers. She has served as a leader in the Florida Medical Association (serving as President), has provided public education as Channel 8’s “Medical Expert in OB/GYN” and has received the “Outstanding Physician’s Award”. Recently named “The Best OB/GYN Group” by The Florida Medical Journal, Madelyn (and her fellow members of The Woman’s Group) have seen their “best-in-class practice” vision come to fruition. In her spare time Madelyn loves to enjoy her family – Bill (married 23 years), Olivia, Christian and Donovan.

Sophie Dessureault, MD,PhD
Dr. Dessureault is a Colorectal Surgical Oncologist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Associate Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Oncologic Sciences at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Dessureault graduated from medical school in 1990 at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. During her residency years, she spent 4 years in the lab and ultimately received a PhD in tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy. She finished a Surgical Oncology fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in 2001 and has been on faculty since then. Dr. Dessureault has been active in translational research, medical education, and patient care. She was the Principal Investigator of a few Phase I and Phase II cancer vaccine trials and continues to collaborate with other researchers in the pursuit of novel therapies for cancer patients. In the past 5 years, Dr. Dessureault has been Clerkship Director of the Interdisciplinary Oncology Clerkship for senior medical students. She continues to teach surgical oncology fellows and general surgery residents every month. She sees primarily patients with colorectal cancer, and is one of a few surgeons across the nation who performs HIPEC procedures (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemoperfusion) for patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei and intraperitoneal mesothelioma.

Jillian Glass, MD
Dr. Jillian Glass is a Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist, whose areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders, attentional difficulties and parent guidance training.

In addition to maintaining a private practice in Tampa, Dr. Glass is a frequent contributor on Fox 13's morning news program "Good Day Tampa Bay," as well as a co-host of the MSN.com web series "Mom's Homeroom" (http://www.momshomeroom.msn.com). The web program highlights educational strategies to better enable parents to enrich the lives of their children by encouraging a love for learning.

A graduate of Emory University, Dr. Glass earned her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She completed her adult psychiatry residency training and her child and adolescent fellowship training at the University of South Florida College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident in both programs.

Eric E. Harrison, MD
Dr. Harrison is the medical director of Cardiology at IASIS Memorial Hospital of Tampa. He is very experienced in all aspects of cardiology. He with the help of his colleagues started one of the first five paramedic services in the country, has done over 15,000 heart catheterizations, started echocardiography at Tampa General Hospital with the help of Dr. Feigenbaum, has been a transplant cardiologist, and has been very active in nuclear cardiology. He is the author of numerous medical articles and has contributed chapters to several books. He is a graduate of Kentucky Medical College and received his post graduate training at the University of South Florida.

He is a Level 3 SCCT Instructor and co–author of the internationally best selling DVD set “Practical Interpretation of Computed Coronary Artery Tomography on the Workstation” with Dr. Pim de Feyter who started coronary CT in Europe. Dr. Harrison’s specialty is advanced cardiac imaging i.e. coronary CTA, cardiac PET/CT, and cardiac MRI. Dr. Harrison is also co–author of the DVD set “Cardiac PET/CCT” with Marcelo DiCarli from Women & Brigham Hospital in Boston. He is currently editing a DVD set on Cardiac MRI featuring Dr. Gerald Pohost, the father of Cardiac MRI. He is one of the founding physician faculty of the University of South Florida Medical School which rotated cardiac fellows on imaging service at Memorial Hospital for advanced imaging training.

Lennox Hoyte, MD
Dr. Hoyte is the director of the female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is an attending Urogynecologist at Tampa General Hospital, and maintains an active clinical practice specializing in all types of female pelvic floor disorders, including prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, childbirth related pelvic floor injury, and pelvic muscle dysfunction.

Dr. Hoyte received a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, an MD degree from Stanford Medical School, and completed OB/GYN residency training at Brigham and Women's/Massachusetts General Hospital. He was fellowship trained in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. He is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and an elected member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. He serves as editorial reviewer for several peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Hoyte has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on Female Pelvic Anatomy and Biomechanics, Overactive Bladder Syndromes, Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse and Incontinence.

Dr. Hoyte is an active clinical researcher, seeking to better understand why some women develop pelvic floor dysfunction after childbirth and others do not. Using live imaging, he has developed videos and images of MR-based 3D reconstructions to demonstrate normal and abnormal pelvic anatomy, many of which are available without charge on the internet.

Nazanin Khakpour, MD
After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Emory College in 1995, Dr. Khakpour continued her medical education at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. In the spring of 1999, Dr. Khakpour matched in general surgery training at the prestigious Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Her interest in women's health, lead her to a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. After completion of her training, she joined the Department of Surgery at the University of Maryland in Baltimore in July of 2005 as an Assistant Professor of surgery, the Director of Breast Surgery as well as the Director of Multi-disciplinary Breast Program. Although, her career was progressing an opportunity arose to work at Moffitt Cancer Center. In February of 2008, she joined the Comprehensive Breast Program as an Assistant Member in the Department of Women's Oncology and Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncological Sciences at the University of South Florida. Since joining the faculty in 2008, she has worked to establish Moffitt Cancer Center as a center excellent multi-disciplinary care of breast cancer patients through direct exposure to the referring physicians and from lectures at grand rounds and at international meetings.

Tyler Kirby, MD
Dr. Kirby spent 11 years in training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, including a 4 year residency in OBGYN and 3 year Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. He is fully board certified in both OBGYN as well as Gynecologic Oncology subspecialty. His interests include the surgical management and chemotherapy of all gynecologic malignancies as well as advanced pelvic surgery, with a particular focus on minimally invasive surgery. He is one of the most experienced robotic gynecologic surgeons in the southeast. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American Medical Association, and the Florida Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the national Gynecologic Cancer Foundation.

Dennis K. Ledford, MD
Dr. Ledford grew up in East Tennessee and attended college at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his MD from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. A fellowship in rheumatology and immunology followed at New York University and Bellevue Hospital in New York. A fellowship in allergy and immunology at USF completed his education. Dr. Ledford remained in Tampa at USF, joining the faculty and achieving the rank of professor of medicine in 2000. Clinical responsibilities occupy the majority of his time, but he has developed research interests in severe, steroid-dependent asthma, HIV disease, indoor allergen characterization and the association of GERD and upper airway disease. He continues to contribute to the medical literature through special projects and ongoing research work, including pharmaceutical funded phase II, phase III and phase IV clinical trials.

Mary H. Lien, MD
Dr. Lien grew up in southern California and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her MD from Duke University School of Medicine. After completing her dermatology residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center and a melanoma fellowship at the University of Michigan Multidisciplinary Melanoma Clinic, Dr. Lien moved to Florida in 1996. Dr. Lien is the Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of South Florida. Dr. Lien specializes in Cutaneous Oncology––specifically in melanoma and other skin malignancies.

Dr. Lien is the Chief of Dermatology at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and also practices dermatology in the Division of Cutaneous Oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Lien is a member of numerous professional dermatologic societies.

Steven L. Maskin, MD
Steven L. Maskin, MD specializes in solving difficult cornea, ocular surface and dry eye disorders with patients traveling from over 35 states and 5 continents for his evaluation. Dr. Maskin is a leader for managing these disorders using innovative medical therapies and surgical techniques, which have restored eye comfort to his patients. These breakthrough advances include the use of placenta derived amniotic membrane, the discovery of a topical cure for ocular surface cancer, and a new patent pending natural eye lubricant drop to provide relief for dry eye sufferers. Dr. Maskin has also recently pioneered a landmark procedure to unblock obstructed and swollen lid glands which is a major cause of dry eye. Dr. Maskin has furthermore now authored the first consumer book on dry eye for Yale University Press. Shayne Plosker, MD
Dr. Plosker has been an Associate Professor at USF, and the Division Director of USF IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology, since USF IVF's inception in October 2006. He and the USF IVF team take pride in being leaders at the forefront of Assisted Reproductive Technology and infertility treatments, and in providing individualized, compassionate, patient care.

Dr. Plosker attended medical school and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. Residency was followed by fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The University of California, San Francisco followed residency. Dr. Plosker returned to Canada to join the ObGyn Faculty at The University of Toronto in the from 1989-1992. He immigrated to the United States in 1992, entering practice in Fall River, Massachusetts where he was Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charlton Memorial Hospital from 1999-2002. He joined the Division of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Women & Infant's Hospital of Rhode Island in 2000, and the clinical faculty at Brown Medical School in 2002. At Brown, he was the Director of the donor egg program, received four Dean's Teaching Excellence awards, and was chosen as a Top Full-time Faculty Teacher of the Year on three occasions.

Dr. Plosker has published on diverse research and clinical interests in reproductive medicine. These include optimizing embryo transfer technique in In Vitro Fertilization, optimizing outcomes in intrauterine insemination, polycystic ovary syndrome, early pregnancy loss, endometrial polyps, and neuroendocrine regulation of pituitary hormone secretion.

Stacie Schaible, News Channel 8 News Anchor
Stacie Schaible anchors the evening news weeknights on News Channel Eight. In addition to her anchoring duties, Stacie also leads the “Eight on Your Side” consumer unit.

Hundreds of requests for help with consumer issues flood into Eight on Your Side each week. Schaible and the Eight on Your Side staff sort through the requests and assist as many viewers as possible.

Before arriving in the Tampa Bay area in January of 2000, Schaible was a main evening anchor in Austin, Texas, Fargo, North Dakota and Duluth, Minnesota. Stacie is a Minnesota native and graduated from the University of Minnesota.

Schaible lives in Tampa with her husband, son and daughter.

Eric Seidel, former consumer lawyer FOX TV
Eric Seidel is one of the best known attorneys and media personalities in the Tampa Bay area. From 1992 until 2010 Eric was FOX 13's Consumer Lawyer targeting scams, frauds and consumer rip-offs.

As the Consumer Lawyer, Eric has taken on crooked businessmen, unsavory corporations and unscrupulous scam artists for nearly two decades. In doing so, he has become a consumer advocate that people trust and has also become a household name as a champion of the average person.

In addition to his role on Fox 13, Eric has also been correspondent for CBS News. He has served as Host of "Operation Consumer Protection," a statewide consumer awareness program produced by The Florida Bar, and has authored several law school study guides on professional ethics and civil procedure.

Eric is a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors, the Hillsborough County Bar Association and The Florida Bar, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Eric has won numerous awards in both law and broadcasting, including The Society of Professional Journalists Award of Excellence, The American Bar Association's Local Government Award, and the Florida Bar Media Award. Eric has been cited for special recognition in county proclamations, as well as being publicly thanked for his work by Florida's Governor, Attorney General, several State Attorneys, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, which has bestowed upon him the title of Honorary Sheriff.

Michael Shereff, MD
Michael J. Shereff, M.D. is Director, Division Foot and Ankle Surgery and Professor, Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, USF College of Medicine. Dr. Shereff earned his Undergraduate and Master's degree in Biology from Columbia University and his Doctorate of Medicine at University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. Following a surgical internship/residency at Beth Israel Medical Center and an orthopaedic residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Orthopaedic Institute in New York, he completed fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the American Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Shereff is past president of the American Foot & Ankle Society and served on the Board of Directors of that organization for 12 years. He is past president of the American Orthopaedic Foot Club.

Dr. Shereff is past director of the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Center of Orthopaedic Specialists of Charleston and Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina. He served as Director, Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery and Associate Professor for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He also served as Adjunct Associate Professor of Bioengineering in the College of Engineering of Marquette University. Prior to that Dr. Shereff was Assistant Chief of the Foot & Ankle Service at Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute and Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University School of Medicine in New York City.

Dr. Shereff is the author of over sixty peer reviewed research papers in the field of adult reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, and is the author of the textbook "Atlas of Foot and Ankle Surgery" published by W.B. Saunders Company. He has written over twenty book chapters in his subspecialty field.

Dr. Shereff has been the recipient of numerous awards for teaching and research. He is a frequent visiting professor and honored guest speaker at various institutions throughout the United States and worldwide. He has been listed in Best Doctors in America.

Joel Silverfield, MD
Dr. Silverfield is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. After completing an internship and residency at Emory, he continued his education with a Rheumatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Silverfield is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He has authored over twenty publications, including articles in The Journal of Rheumatology and The American Journal and has been rated on multiple occasions as one of the ”Best Doctors in America“. He has received the ”Leader of the Year“ Award by the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Silverfield is married, has three sons, and loves to collect antiques and play tennis.

Maria-Carmen Wilson, MD
María-Carmen B. Wilson, MD, is Professor of Neurology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. She serves as the Associate Director of the Neurology Residency Program, Associate Director for the Pain Medicine Fellowship, Director of the Headache Medicine Fellowship and Medical Director of the Headache and Pain Center at Tampa General Hospital.

Dr. Wilson earned her Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree at the University of Cádiz Medical School in Cádiz, Spain where she was born and raised. She has completed training in neurology followed by a fellowship in pain medicine/headache at the University of South Florida College Of Medicine. She holds a triple Board certification in the fields of Neurology, Pain Medicine and headache Medicine.

A skilled educator, Dr. Wilson was the 1997 recipient of the Department of Neurology Teacher of the Year Award, the 2002 Distinguished Faculty Award and in 2008 the Outstanding Headache & Pain Fellowship Teaching Award at the University to South Florida. She has authored a book on the subject of headache as well as numerous articles and several book chapters in the field of Headache and Pain. Dr. Wilson has conducted multiple clinical trials and is a national and international speaker.

Dr. Wilson is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Headache Society, the International Headache Society, the Academy of Neurology, the Spanish Pain Society, and the American Pain Society. She is on the board of directors of the American Headache Society and the American Council for Headache Education.
