Wilfred Aguila, M.D
Wilfred Aguila, M.D. is a native of Florida and has served communities in Florida since he graduated from the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in 1991.

Dr. Aguila received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Miami in 1986 before completing the medical program. In Tampa, Dr. Aguila completed his surgical residency at the University of South Florida in 1996 and was Chief Resident in Surgery from 1995 to 1996. Dr. Aguila then went on to practice in general surgery in the Brandon area for eleven years and specializes in Bariatric surgery.

Struggling for almost a decade with his own weight problem, Dr. Aguila has opened a practice in Tampa that specializes in weight loss and shares with his patients the lessons he has learned in maintaining his own weight loss. Dr. Aguila is currently listed in Guide to America's Top Surgeons and is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is Board Certified in General Surgery.

Dr. Aguila is active in community events including the American Cancer Society and the Rotary Club. He lives with his wife and three children in Tampa.

Jesus Gonzalez Bosquet, MD
Dr. Jesus Gonzalez Bosquet received his M.D. Degree from the Medical School of the University of Barcelona in Spain, were also completed his first residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and received his Ph.D. After five years of practice in the National Health System (Instituto Nacional de la Salud) with a group of gynecologist dedicated to women's oncology, he moved to the United States were he repeated his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Mayo Clinic. Once finished his clinical training, was awarded a Scholarship by the Gynecologic Cancer foundation and the National Cancer Institute (GCF/NCI), that he completed at the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG), directed by Stephen J. Chanock, M.D., part of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the NCI. During this scholarship, his research was centered in Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS), with special interest in post-GWAS analysis. These included characterization and fine-mapping of highly significant SNPs through haplotype and linkage disequilibrium analyses. Other publications include clinical studies in peer review journals about vulvar, endometrial and uterine cancer.

Madelyn E. Butler, MD
Madelyn Butler was born in Cuba and came to the United States with her family at an early age. She spent her childhood in Georgia, and then moved to Florida, where she completed high school. She attended the University of Florida and received both her undergraduate and medical degree. She later completed her residency at the University of South Florida.

Since the beginning of her practice in 1994, Madelyn’s contributions to the field have been recognized by both professional organizations and her peers. She has served as a leader in the Florida Medical Association (serving as Vice President), has provided public education as Channel 8’s “Medical Expert in OB/GYN” and has received the “Outstanding Physician’s Award”. Recently named “The Best OB/GYN Group” by The Florida Medical Journal, Madelyn (and her fellow members of The Woman’s Group) have seen their “best-in-class practice” vision come to fruition. In her spare time Madelyn loves to enjoy her family – Bill (married 23 years), Olivia, Christian and Donovan.

LIsette Campos, ABC Action News - Director of Community Affairs
Lissette Campos is the Director of Community Affairs for WFTS - TV ABC Action News. A veteran newscaster and communications professional for more than 20 years, Lissette began her career in Miami, FL. She moved to Tampa, FL in 2001 to join the ABC Action News anchor team. Her career also includes positions as Media Relations Manager and Director of Strategic Communications for USF Health, as well as Public Affairs Manager and Crisis Communications Specialist for the Walt Disney World Company, based in Orlando. Upon her return to WFTS TV in September 2008, Lissette launched Positively Tampa Bay. This weekday interview segment on ABC Action News at Noon showcases local charities, community volunteer projects and local residents making a positive difference in the Tampa Bay area. Under Lissette's leadership, the station produced the Emmy Award winning Taking Action Against Domestic Violence campaign - named 2009's Best Community Service Campaign in the Southeastern U.S. by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter.

Over the years, Lissette's assignments have included investigative and undercover reporting in Moscow, Russia and Havana, Cuba. Her 2001 reports on the international custody battle between the U.S. & Cuba over the Cuban rafter boy Elian Gonzalez, were broadcast by CBS affiliates nationwide. She was also featured on the CBS Morning News during hurricane preparations in Miami, FL.

Lissette has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work, including 2 Emmy Awards, statewide recognitions by the Society of Professional Journalists, and Award of Excellence by the American Academy of Medical Colleges. Currently, she is a Board member of the Tampa Hispanic Heritage Inc. and the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund.

Nicole Carswell MS, RD, LD/N
Nicole is a registered dietitian and a Florida licensed dietitian. She holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and is also certified in Adult Weight Management. Her undergraduate degree is in Media, Communication and Technology and Psychology. Prior to her dietetics career, she was a graphic designer in New York City. Her passion for nutrition started in college, when she realized the important role nutrition played in all aspects of her life. She has counseled individuals and families from pre-school age to senior adults. She has enjoyed being an adjunct teacher and fitness instructor for school aged children while creating nutrition education curriculums for after school programs. She has given numerous lectures and has appeared on local television programs. Nicole has provided nutrition care for patients in the areas of radiation, chemotherapy, breast cancer, bone marrow transplant, and integrative medicine since 2008. She is also an instructor for the RENEW 1.8.0. Program which stands for the Recovery with Exercise, Nutrition, Education and Weight Management. This comprehensive program is designed specifically to meet the needs of cancer survivors.

Judy Genshaft, USF President
Judy Genshaft was appointed president of the University of South Florida System in July 2000.

During Dr. Genshaft's presidency, the USF System has been nationally recognized as a top-tier national research university. With campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee and Lakeland, the USF System serves more than 47,000 students in more than 232 degree programs on the undergraduate, master's, specialist and doctoral levels, including the doctor of medicine. Today the university has 13,440 employees and an annual budget of more than $1.6 billion.

Under President Genshaft's leadership, USF has grown to be the 9th largest public research university in the nation; one of 63 public research universities named to the top tier (very high research activity) of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching; provides more than $3.2 billion annual economic impact on the Tampa Bay regional economy; and is one of the top employers in the Tampa Bay region.

Statewide, Dr. Genshaft is active in the Florida Council of 100's Business/Higher Education Partnership, Board of Directors and Florida's Future Task Force. Since 2005, she has been a Trustee of Junior Achievement of West Central Florida.

Nationally, she is the Chair of the American Council on Education, the nation's largest association representing accredited colleges and universities and serves on the executive committee and board for the Big East Athletic Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Dr. Genshaft has been recognized for her efforts as she was inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame, named 2008 Tampa Bay Business Journal Business Woman of the Year and the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council Herman Goldner Award for Regional Leadership. Globally, she has been honored with the Global Leadership Award by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn in Bangkok, Thailand, The Captain of Education Award from Hadassah College in Jerusalem, Israel and as the first woman to receive an honorary doctorate in Literature from Yeungnam University, South Korea.

Prior to joining USF, President Genshaft served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University at Albany, State University of New York. She also held various positions during a 16-year tenure at The Ohio State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in social work and psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, a master's degree in school counseling from Kent State University, and a doctorate in counseling psychology from Kent State. She has authored and co-authored 69 journal articles and 3 books.

Karen A. Goldberg, MD
Karen A. Goldberg, MD is a Board Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist who recently joined the faculty at University of South Florida-Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in fall 2009. She obtained her medical degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1995. From there, she did her internship in Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1995 to 1996. For her general psychiatry training, Dr. Goldberg moved to Atlanta, Georgia to train at Emory University School of Medicine-Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She served as Chief Resident of Psychiatry at Emory University Hospital from 1998 to 1999. Dr. Goldberg completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Emory University in 2001.

Dr. Goldberg has a wealth of experience in all aspects of psychiatric treatment since her graduation from Emory University in 2001. For three years following Emory, she worked within the Johns Hopkins Medical System serving as Attending Psychiatrist and Coordinator of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Howard County General Hospital from 2001 to 2004. Dr. Goldberg then moved to Florida to work with Deaf/Hard of Hearing youth at Tampa Bay Academy Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center. Most recently, Dr. Goldberg served as Associate Medical Director at the National Deaf Academy in Mount Dora, Florida, for nearly three years prior to joining University of South Florida. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at USF and as Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Tampa General Hospital. She has given a variety of lectures and presentations on all aspects of Psychiatry on a local, national and international level.

Tracy Halme, MD
Dr. Tracy Halme is a Women's Imaging expert who is fellowship trained in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and breast biopsies. She is a member of SDI Imaging Partners and practices at St. Joseph's Women's hospital Breast Center in Tampa, Florida. She grew up in Tampa and then received her undergraduate degree in biology at UCLA in Los Angeles. She then returned to Tampa for medical school at The University of South Florida. She completed a radiology residency and fellowship in women's Imaging at The University of Texas, Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. She is certified by the American Board of Radiology. Her major role with SDI is in the area of Women's Imaging, serving as our Director of Mammography.

She is married to Matthew Halme, an attorney, and they live in South Tampa with their three beautiful children-Ian, Morgan, and Campbell.

Eric E. Harrison, MD
Dr. Harrison is the medical director of Cardiology at IASIS Memorial Hospital of Tampa. He is very experienced in all aspects of cardiology. He with the help of his colleagues started one of the first five paramedic services in the country, has done over 15,000 heart catheterizations, started echocardiography at Tampa General Hospital with the help of Dr. Feigenbaum, has been a transplant cardiologist, and has been very active in nuclear cardiology. He is the author of numerous medical articles and has contributed chapters to several books. He is a graduate of Kentucky Medical College and received his post graduate training at the University of South Florida.

He is a Level 3 SCCT Instructor and co–author of the internationally best selling DVD set “Practical Interpretation of Computed Coronary Artery Tomography on the Workstation” with Dr. Pim de Feyter who started coronary CT in Europe. Dr. Harrison’s specialty is advanced cardiac imaging i.e. coronary CTA, cardiac PET/CT, and cardiac MRI. Dr. Harrison is also co–author of the DVD set “Cardiac PET/CCT” with Marcelo DiCarli from Women & Brigham Hospital in Boston. He is currently editing a DVD set on Cardiac MRI featuring Dr. Gerald Pohost, the father of Cardiac MRI. He is one of the founding physician faculty of the University of South Florida Medical School which rotated cardiac fellows on imaging service at Memorial Hospital for advanced imaging training.

Lennox Hoyte, MD
Dr. Hoyte is the director of the female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He is an attending Urogynecologist at Tampa General Hospital, and maintains an active clinical practice specializing in all types of female pelvic floor disorders, including prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, childbirth related pelvic floor injury, and pelvic muscle dysfunction.

Dr. Hoyte received a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, an MD degree from Stanford Medical School, and completed OB/GYN residency training at Brigham and Women's/Massachusetts General Hospital. He was fellowship trained in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. He is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and an elected member of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. He serves as editorial reviewer for several peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Hoyte has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on Female Pelvic Anatomy and Biomechanics, Overactive Bladder Syndromes, Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse and Incontinence.

Dr. Hoyte is an active clinical researcher, seeking to better understand why some women develop pelvic floor dysfunction after childbirth and others do not. Using live imaging, he has developed videos and images of MR-based 3D reconstructions to demonstrate normal and abnormal pelvic anatomy, many of which are available without charge on the internet.

Tyler Kirby, MD
Dr. Kirby spent 11 years in training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, including a 4 year residency in OBGYN and 3 year Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. He is fully board certified in both OBGYN as well as Gynecologic Oncology subspecialty. His interests include the surgical management and chemotherapy of all gynecologic malignancies as well as advanced pelvic surgery, with a particular focus on minimally invasive surgery. He is one of the most experienced robotic gynecologic surgeons in the southeast. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American Medical Association, and the Florida Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the national Gynecologic Cancer Foundation.

Stephen M. Kreitzer, MD
Stephen M. Kreitzer, MD, is a nationally known lecturer and educator in sleep medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and in Sleep Medicine. He has practiced in Tampa since 1978 and is Chief of Sleep Medicine at Memorial Hospital. He is also director of Pulmonary Medicine at Memorial Hospital, former Chief of Pulmonary Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Roland M. Lajoie, MD
Dr. LaJoie completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale University’s Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut and his fellowship in Endocrinology at George Washington University in the District of Columbia. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and has 25 years of group/solo practice experience in treating diabetes and metabolism disorders.

Christine Laronga, MD, FACS
Dr. Laronga is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Don & Erika Wallace Comprehensive Breast Program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Laronga was an assistant professor of surgery at the Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Surgery. She received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey (UMDNJ) Medical School and completed her research fellowship at UMDNJ–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway. She completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center specializing in clinical/basic science research. She is also board certified in general surgery.

Dennis K. Ledford, MD
Dr. Ledford grew up in East Tennessee and attended college at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his MD from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. A fellowship in rheumatology and immunology followed at New York University and Bellevue Hospital in New York. A fellowship in allergy and immunology at USF completed his education. Dr. Ledford remained in Tampa at USF, joining the faculty and achieving the rank of professor of medicine in 2000. Clinical responsibilities occupy the majority of his time, but he has developed research interests in severe, steroid-dependent asthma, HIV disease, indoor allergen characterization and the association of GERD and upper airway disease. He continues to contribute to the medical literature through special projects and ongoing research work, including pharmaceutical funded phase II, phase III and phase IV clinical trials.

Mary H. Lien, MD
Dr. Lien grew up in southern California and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her MD from Duke University School of Medicine. After completing her dermatology residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center and a melanoma fellowship at the University of Michigan Multidisciplinary Melanoma Clinic, Dr. Lien moved to Florida in 1996. Dr. Lien is the Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of South Florida. Dr. Lien specializes in Cutaneous Oncology––specifically in melanoma and other skin malignancies.

Dr. Lien is the Chief of Dermatology at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and also practices dermatology in the Division of Cutaneous Oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Lien is a member of numerous professional dermatologic societies.

Steven L. Maskin, MD
Steven L. Maskin, MD specializes in solving difficult cornea, ocular surface and dry eye disorders with patients traveling from over 35 states and 5 continents for his evaluation. Dr. Maskin is a leader for managing these disorders using innovative medical therapies and surgical techniques, which have restored eye comfort to his patients. These breakthrough advances include the use of placenta derived amniotic membrane, the discovery of a topical cure for ocular surface cancer, and a new patent pending natural eye lubricant drop to provide relief for dry eye sufferers. Dr. Maskin has also recently pioneered a landmark procedure to unblock obstructed and swollen lid glands which is a major cause of dry eye. Kimberly Overman of the Financial Well
Kimberly D. Overman, CFP® is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Financial Well, Inc with over 28 years of experience in the financial service industry. Ms. Overman offers the full range of wealth planning services such as retirement, tax, estate, elder-care, risk management and charitable giving planning as well as wealth management to individuals, families, corporations, and non-profit organizations. Shayne Plosker, MD
Dr. Plosker has been an Associate Professor at USF, and the Division Director of USF IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology, since USF IVF's inception in October 2006. He and the USF IVF team take pride in being leaders at the forefront of Assisted Reproductive Technology and infertility treatments, and in providing individualized, compassionate, patient care.

Dr. Plosker attended medical school and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. Residency was followed by fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The University of California, San Francisco followed residency. Dr. Plosker returned to Canada to join the ObGyn Faculty at The University of Toronto in the from 1989-1992. He immigrated to the United States in 1992, entering practice in Fall River, Massachusetts where he was Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Charlton Memorial Hospital from 1999-2002. He joined the Division of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Women & Infant's Hospital of Rhode Island in 2000, and the clinical faculty at Brown Medical School in 2002. At Brown, he was the Director of the donor egg program, received four Dean's Teaching Excellence awards, and was chosen as a Top Full-time Faculty Teacher of the Year on three occasions.

Dr. Plosker has published on diverse research and clinical interests in reproductive medicine. These include optimizing embryo transfer technique in In Vitro Fertilization, optimizing outcomes in intrauterine insemination, polycystic ovary syndrome, early pregnancy loss, endometrial polyps, and neuroendocrine regulation of pituitary hormone secretion.

Connie Ramos, ARNP
Connie received her BSN from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa , AL) and her masters degree as a Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Florida (Tampa , FL).

She has spent most of her career in caring for cardiac patients. The first 6 years of her career she provided direct patient care in the cardiac intensive care unit. After receiving her masters degree and moving to New York City , she managed the clinical needs of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery for St. Vincent's Hospital. Upon returning to the Tampa Bay area she joined St. Joseph's Hospital Heart Institute and helped open the first local Women’s Healthy Heart program in February 2004.

Connie has always had a strong interest and passion for the prevention and treatment of cardiac disease.

Stacie Schaible, News Channel 8 News Anchor
Stacie Schaible anchors the evening news weeknights on News Channel Eight. In addition to her anchoring duties, Stacie also leads the “Eight on Your Side” consumer unit.

Hundreds of requests for help with consumer issues flood into Eight on Your Side each week. Schaible and the Eight on Your Side staff sort through the requests and assist as many viewers as possible.

Before arriving in the Tampa Bay area in January of 2000, Schaible was a main evening anchor in Austin, Texas, Fargo, North Dakota and Duluth, Minnesota. Stacie is a Minnesota native and graduated from the University of Minnesota.

Schaible lives in Tampa with her husband, son and daughter.

David Shibata, MD
Dr. Shibata is a Colorectal Surgical Oncologist and the Head of the Section of Colorectal Oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Shibata attended medical school at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and received his General Surgery training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. He completed a Research Fellowship in Cancer Biology at Harvard Medical School and a Surgical Oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Joel Silverfield, MD
Dr. Silverfield is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. After completing an internship and residency at Emory, he continued his education with a Rheumatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Silverfield is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He has authored over twenty publications, including articles in The Journal of Rheumatology and The American Journal and has been rated on multiple occasions as one of the ”Best Doctors in America“. He has received the ”Leader of the Year“ Award by the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Silverfield is married, has three sons, and loves to collect antiques and play tennis.

Maria-Carmen Wilson, MD
María-Carmen B. Wilson, MD, is Professor of Neurology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. She serves as the Associate Director of the Neurology Residency Program, Associate Director for the Pain Medicine Fellowship, Director of the Headache Medicine Fellowship and Medical Director of the Headache and Pain Center at Tampa General Hospital.

Dr. Wilson earned her Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree at the University of Cádiz Medical School in Cádiz, Spain where she was born and raised. She has completed training in neurology followed by a fellowship in pain medicine/headache at the University of South Florida College Of Medicine. She holds a triple Board certification in the fields of Neurology, Pain Medicine and headache Medicine.

A skilled educator, Dr. Wilson was the 1997 recipient of the Department of Neurology Teacher of the Year Award, the 2002 Distinguished Faculty Award and in 2008 the Outstanding Headache & Pain Fellowship Teaching Award at the University to South Florida. She has authored a book on the subject of headache as well as numerous articles and several book chapters in the field of Headache and Pain. Dr. Wilson has conducted multiple clinical trials and is a national and international speaker.

Dr. Wilson is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Headache Society, the International Headache Society, the Academy of Neurology, the Spanish Pain Society, and the American Pain Society. She is on the board of directors of the American Headache Society and the American Council for Headache Education.
